RCIA

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

rosary.jpg

RCIA sessions begin Tuesday, September 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Lounge.  The initials RCIA stand for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  It is a time for persons who are interested to come and learn about the Catholic Church and its teachings.

The sessions include time for prayer and sharing information about the Catholic Church.  Time is provided for questions from participants about specific Catholic practices and questions that may arise from aspects of the Catholic Church heard in the media.

The RCIA is a process by which persons come to understand what it means to be a Catholic.  Stages are marked by community celebrations that serve as transitions throughout the rite.

The RCIA is for whom?
  • The unbaptized adult: RCIA attempts to provide a process for initiation that helps the person grow in awareness to God's call to conversation.
  • An adult baptized into another Christian denomination who wants to learn about the Catholic faith and is interested in joining the Catholic Church.
  • The baptized Catholic adult who desires to learn more about being a Catholic, and feel more confident in answering questions from children.
  • The baptized Catholic who has not received other sacraments.

When does the RCIA meet?

Sessions will begin in the fall.

If you know someone who would like to know more about the Catholic Church, please invite him or her to attend.  Registration forms are available.
